Dont go back

This sculptural piece explores the nonlinear, often painful process of recovering from an eating disorder. Growing up in a time surrounded by unsolicited opinions about body image, I witnessed my best friend struggle through cycles of recovery and relapse. The ceramic bowls, punctured with holes, symbolize both the fragility of recovery, where a single setback can feel like a return to old habits, and the disordered wish for food to escape through the holes rather than be consumed. Created after interviewing a friend who generously shared their experiences, this piece reflects on the complex realities of recovery and the thoughts that can persist beneath the surface.
